Business Owners

Your business is your biggest asset. We help you plan like it.
Where we come in

The decisions that shape an owner's wealth

Running the business is one job. Planning around it is another — and most owners are doing the second one in the margins, between payroll runs and Tuesday meetings. That's where things get missed. We're not here to add to your plate; we're here to take things off it.
Investing Business and Personal Assets
Cash and reserves don't have to sit idle. We help you think through how the investable portion of your business and personal wealth can be put to work in a way that fits your timeline and risk tolerance.
Retirement Plans for You and Your Business
SEP IRAs, SIMPLEs, Solo 401(k)s, traditional 401(k)s, cash balance plans — each fits a different stage and team size. We help you understand the options and choose one that matches your business.
Life After Business
Eventually the business becomes something you transition out of. We help you plan for the retirement income and the next chapter that comes after — well before any decision is forced.
Tax Considerations
Entity structure, income timing, retirement contributions, and major purchases all connect. We coordinate so that the financial plan and the tax plan move together.
Risk & Continuity
Buy-sell agreements, key-person considerations, and what happens if you step away — planned or not. We help you make sure the business and your family are protected.
Owner Income
How you pay yourself touches taxes, retirement savings, and cash flow all at once. We help you think through the trade-offs alongside your CPA.

What does working with us actually look like?

We start with a conversation. No commitment, no sales pitch — just a chance to talk through where you are and what's on your mind.
If it's a fit, here's what comes next:

Discovery

We gather the details: the business, your compensation, existing plans, personal accounts, goals, and concerns. We want to understand both the business and the life you're building around it

Portfolio Design

We help you design the investable portion of your wealth (business and personal) in a diversified, efficient way that fits your timeline and goals, rather than letting cash and reserves sit without a plan

Planning

Around the portfolio, we build a broader plan that addresses retirement plans, owner compensation, tax coordination, continuity, and the eventual transition out. You see the plan, we walk through it together, and we revise it until it makes sense to you

Implementation

We handle the execution: setting up accounts and plans at Schwab or Altruist, coordinating with your CPA and attorney, and putting the plan into motion. If you'd rather take the plan and run with it yourself, that works too

Ongoing Management

Your business and your goals will keep evolving. We actively manage the investable portion of your wealth, revisit the plan as the business grows or changes, and stay in step with the moves worth considering each year
Business owner FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm busy running my business. Why do I need a separate financial plan?

Because the business and your personal financial life are deeply connected, and most owners are too busy running the company to step back and look at how the pieces fit. Your compensation affects your taxes, your taxes affect what you can save, your retirement plan affects your team, and the eventual transition out affects everything. Our role is to keep that whole picture in view so the decisions you make in one area account for the others — and so the things that are easy to put off don't get put off indefinitely.

What kind of retirement plan is right for my business?

It depends on your situation — the size of your team, your payroll, your cash flow, and how much you're looking to save. SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, Solo 401(k)s, traditional 401(k)s, and cash balance plans each fit different circumstances, and each has its own rules and trade-offs. There's no single right answer, which is exactly why it's worth talking through. We help you understand the options so the plan fits both the business and your personal goals.

Can you help me plan for selling or exiting my business someday?

We can help you plan for the financial side of life after the business — what your retirement income could look like, how the proceeds from a transition might support your goals, and how to think about the years that follow. We're not business brokers or valuation experts, and we'd help coordinate with the attorneys, CPAs, and specialists who handle the transaction itself. Our focus is making sure that when the time comes, the plan for your life after the business is already in place rather than being figured out on the fly.
