Retirees

You've spent decades building something. Now the paycheck stops, and the question shifts from how do I save enough? to how do I make it last?
Where we come in

The decisions that shape retirement

Maybe you're a few years out and starting to map the transition. Maybe you retired last month and the quiet is louder than you expected. Maybe you've been retired for a while, but the market's been bumpy and you want a second set of eyes on whether you're still on track.
Building an Investment Portfolio
The mix that got you here isn't necessarily the mix that gets you through the next 30 years. Allocation, risk, and structure all need to be reconsidered when the paycheck stops.
Turning Savings into Income
Social Security timing, pension elections, which accounts to draw from first, and how to do it tax-efficiently.
Roth Conversions
The window between retirement and RMDs is often the most valuable tax-planning opportunity of your life. Most people miss it.
Required Minimum Distributions (RMD)
The rules have changed (again), and the penalties for getting it wrong are real.
Legacy & Gifting
Whether that's helping grandkids with college, supporting causes you care about, or making sure what's left passes cleanly to the next generation.
Healthcare & Medicare
Coordinating coverage, planning for long-term care, and understanding what you actually need to not be worried.

What does working with us actually look like?

We start with a conversation. No commitment, no sales pitch — just a chance to talk through where you are and what's on your mind.
If it's a fit, here's what comes next:

Discovery

We gather the details — accounts, income sources, expenses, goals, concerns. We want to understand not just the numbers, but what matters to you and why

Portfolio Design

We build an investment portfolio designed around your income needs, time horizon, and tolerance for risk. That means thinking carefully about how much you hold in stocks versus bonds, where each piece sits (taxable, IRA, Roth), and how the portfolio will generate the income you need without forcing you to sell at the wrong time

Planning

Around that portfolio, we build out a broader retirement plan that addresses tax strategy, withdrawal sequencing, Social Security, healthcare, and risk. You see the plan, we walk through it together, and we revise it until it makes sense to you

Implementation

We execute for you, handling paperwork, moving accounts to Schwab or Altruist, setting up withdrawals, we handle it all

Ongoing Management

Retirement isn't static. Markets move, tax laws change, life shifts. We actively manage the portfolio — rebalancing and adjusting allocation as your needs evolve — and we meet regularly to revisit the broader plan. You'll always know what you own, why you own it, and how it fits the plan
Retirees FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have enough to retire?

It's the question almost every pre-retiree is really asking, and the honest answer is: it depends on more than a number. The size of your portfolio matters, but so do your spending needs, your other income sources (Social Security, pensions, rentals), your tax picture, your healthcare situation, and how long you need the money to last. We build a retirement plan that pulls all of those pieces together and shows you, in real terms, what your income looks like year by year. You leave the conversation with a clear answer, not longer list of questions.

I'm 75 and already retired — is it too late to start working with someone?

Not at all. Some of the most valuable planning work happens well into retirement. At 75, you're navigating RMDs, Medicare decisions, potential Roth conversion windows, and questions about legacy and gifting — all of which benefit from a fresh set of eyes. We also frequently help clients at this stage simplify: consolidating accounts, clarifying what's owned and why, and making sure a surviving spouse or family member would be able to step in without confusion. Whether you've been managing things yourself or you've worked with someone for years, it's never too late to make sure the plan still fits the life you're living.

Do I have to move my accounts to work with you?

For ongoing portfolio management, yes — we custody client assets at Schwab or Altruist, which gives us the ability to manage, rebalance, and report on your accounts efficiently. The transfer process is straightforward and we handle the paperwork. If you're only looking for a financial plan without ongoing management, we can do that as a standalone engagement and you keep your accounts where they are.
